Daniel King, Wenceslaus Hollar and John The Cathedral and Conventionall Churches of England and Wales Orthographically delineated Drawn and engraved by Daniel King' Second Part. This edition 1656 Printed and Sold by John Overton, 1st edition in three volumes was published by William Dugdale (1605-83). Engravings by Wenceslaus Hollar (6 plates include South Prospect of the Cathedral and Metropolitan Christ Church of Canterbury - close cropped on edge and professionally restored). 85 total plates some laid after repair and majority in excellent condition including North Prospect of the Cathedral Church of Durham and separate engraving of Peterborough Cathedral, Church of Ely, Gloucester, Worcester, Tewkesbury, Rippon, Oxford, St Alban, Bath, Exeter, Selby, Norwich etc etc all in excellent condition. Title page and cover detached lacks spine. Original calf binding gilt decoration and gilt edges to pages. Last four plates of full standing portraits of Monks in full habit. Rare and desirable volume. 350mm x 80mm.

London William Mackenzie (c1870) Two Volumes (of six). First Edition. 4to (over 9¾" x 12"). Full leather red morocco, richly decorated front cover, rear cover and spine in gilt. Raised compartments, bevelled all gilt edges. Title page in gilt and maroon lettering with coloured vignette. Two volumes illustrated with total 78 tissue-guarded pastel shaded chromolithograph prints of houses and castles drawn by Alexander Francis Lydon (1836-1917) and printed from coloured wood blocks by the Baxter process by Benjamin Fawcett (1808-1893) of Driffield, Yorkshire. Total 166 pages of accompanying text.. Houses and castles in England, Scotland and Ireland or held by the respective nobility. Some signs of foxing throughout not affecting the content or plates. Overall excellent.
