Belgium Amphitheatre at Nismes. Uncoloured steel engraving by James B Allen from a drawing by J D Harding depicting an 19th century scen in the ruins of the Roman amphitheatre built at the end of the first century. It was among the biggest arenas in Roman Gaul, measuring 133 meters by 101 meters with room for more than 20 000 spectators. Published by Fisher, Son & Co. London & Paris 1845. 270mm x 198mm. Wide margins with signs of foxing and lightly soiled in very good condition. <<BR><BR>>!!
