10083. France Golden Fleece Playing Cards

Belgium "Toison d'or," or "Golden fleece," complete 53 playing cards includes Joker. Court cards depict King and Queen of Belgium and some of the thirty-one knights that were admitted into the Order. The King of Spain afterward became grand master of the order as Duke of Burgundy (King of Hearts). Who married Isabel of Portugal (Queen of Hearts). Knights wore a scarlet cloaks lined with ermine, with the collar opened. The motto, "Ante ferit quam flamma micat" ("He strikes before the spark gives light") on the Aces. The order later became common to all the princes of the house of Austria and now belongs to both Austria and Spain, in accordance with a treaty made in 1725
