NOTE: The Ashantee War 1873-74
The campaign against King Kalkali in the West African Ashantee Kingdom had two phases: firstly before the arrival of General Sir Garnet Wolseley with the main British force. These operations were undertaken by the small naval brigade (June and July 1873) represnted in this ILN print. The second phase was the steady advance inland towards Kumassi when several major actions were fought. In February 1874, the force entered Kumassi and Kalkali agreed to make peace.

The attack and important capture of Arica was under the command of lieutenant colonel Pedro Lagos Marchant (1832-1884). Good margins in very good condition. 280mm x 194mm
