HOMANN Johann Baptist (1664-1724) Regnorum Hispaniæ et Portugaliae Tabula Generalis . . . title at top reads: El Reyno de Espana dividido en dos grandes Estados de Aragony de Castilla . . . tambien el Reyno de Portugal. c1724 copper engraving in full original colour covering the whole Iberian Peninsula showing part of North Africa. Balearic Islands prominent. Attractive cartouche with Royal Arms and coats of 14 provinces. Close cropped and lightly soiled with water stain at lower margin. Generally in good condition without major faults or tears. 575mm x 492mm
NOTE: J B Homann was born in Oberkammlach, Schwabia (Germany) flourished from early 1690s establishing his own firm in 1702. In 1707 he published his first Atlas. He was Geographer to the Holy Roman Emperor and member of the Prussian Royal Academy of Sciences. Homann Heirs took over the firm from 1730.
