00591. Japan Hana Fuda 1990 Korea (Japan) Standard Hana Fuda complete pack of 48 plus 3 extra cards. Papier-mâché 55mm x 40mm. These are oriental versions of a western-style deck, the word Karuta describing cards is derived from the Portuguese 'Carta'. The Standard Hana Fuda has 48 cards with twelve suits (following the twelve months of the year) each of which consists of four cards. Most suits have one card illustrated with a bird, animal or scene, and one card with a Tanzaku (hanging scroll). This Korean version with Korean chracters on a few of the cards includes 3 extra cards of which one is blank. Original broken plastic box. Otherwise mint condition.
