04697. Sketchley Masonic ½ Penny 1790 No.370b EF Masonic Money. The well-known Sketchley Masonic ½ Penny Token issued 1790 by the die-sinker Dixon at the time of the Election of the Prince of Wales (later King George III) as Grand Master. Private copper token 28mm diameter 9grm for value of ½ penny Obverse winged cherub with triangle and Masonic emblems. Legend '24 Nov. 1790 Prince of Wales Elected G.M.'. Reverse Arms of the Premier Grand Lodge of England with ribbed supporting Beavers. Only known Masonic token actually used as Masonic currency. Issued in Birmingham by Brother James Sketchley.
