Thevet, or André Marmolius (1502-1590) 'Island of Danan Indonesia' wonderful quaint very early woodcut depicting fishermen, villagers and villages with text of recto and verso. Published in 'La Cosmographie Universelle. . .' Paris 1571/5. Excellent condition. Thevet was a French cartographer and Franciscan monk who travelled to the Orient and was appointed Royal Cosmographer by Henry III Prolific though unreliable cartographer. 215mm x 370mm
