A large folio 795cm x 595cm format and scarce detailed map of Northern France with Paris in view to the West. The map covers Artois, Picardy, Isle de France, Champagne, Lorraine and Alsace and the historic French Royal regions of Flanders, Brabant, Haynaut and Namur in Belgium, Luxemburg and the Saar, Palatinate, and Mainz areas in Germany. The term conventional troops refers to the military forces raised by the French National Assembly to defend the 1792 Revolution from foreigners intent on preserving the monarchy.
